I would rate my physical well-being an 8. I am a very active person because I look at it as a way of life instead of working out. For the most part I eat very healthy but slip at times and I beat myself up about it. It can be difficult because I am a single mother working a full time job, and a full time student. My goal would be to ensure my understands the importance of why I stay physically active and stay away from junk food.
I would give myself a 9 for mental well-being. I love introducing myself to new things and reading and researching is one way that I do that. I practice yoga as a way to keep a clear mind and relax. I don’t like being around negative people or a negative atmosphere. My goal would be to try and stay away from negative people because I feel it affects my mood. I am very driven and level headed.

My spiritual well-being rating would be a 7. I am a firm believer in God and have witnessed the power of prayer. I do feel I could attend church more often than I do. I am a Baptist and I have no intention of changing that but I could be more opened minded to other religions. My sister attends a holiness church. She has invited me on several occasions, but I have declined. My goal is to attend church with her and see what it has to offer as far as getting the word of Christ.
To move toward each goal I am going to incorporate meditation into my day. Mediation is a great stress reliever and a way of training the mind. It will allow me to have the ability to open my mind to different things without affecting my inner self.
The Crime of the Century/Rainbow Meditation
I really enjoyed this meditation. I listened to it when I was stressing about life’s trail and tribulation. It helped me stop and think positive thoughts. I was able to work past my issues and finish my day on a positive note.
Tonya, it seems that you are doing a very good job with your routines, life, and diet. Just by your post I can tell that you are very dedicated and it's nice that you look at your exercise plan as part of your life and not an exercise routine, that's a great mindset. I, like you am very devoted to my kids, I have my husband but, it wasn't always like that I was a singe mom for a while and I know how complicated it can be and how time consuming things feel. It's tough to say the least. Meditation is an awesome way to get yourself on track and understand your mind and body. I have tried Yoga in the past and it makes me extremely dizzy so I haven't tried it again. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Sorry to hear of your experience with yoga. My son means the world to me. Kids are so precious and are sometimes taken for granite. I often hear parents say they need a break away from their kids, I have never said that in the nines years since my sin has been born. Parenting can be a difficult task but my son is my inspiration with all things. We have a great relationship and spending time with him makes my day.
DeleteTonya,
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn’t beat yourself up about eating things outside your normal healthy eating habits. You are only human and deserve to eat things you enjoy from time to time. I give you a huge kudos for eating so healthy though! Due to you being a single mom and a working full time student you could take advantage to the cheap processed fast food items that are readily available out there to feed yourself and your family. Good for you for not giving in and sticking to a healthy diet and staying away from junk food!
Good for you for having an open mind and introducing yourself to new things and reading and researching new things. I am like you and like to stay away from negative people and negative atmospheres. Negative thoughts and feelings seem to be contagious and they are things I do not want to be involved in either. They only bring you down.
I am like you in the spiritual well-being aspect of life. I too would like to attend church on a more regular basis. Good for you on having an open mind and considering going to church with your sister.
I think you are on the right track and have the open mind and positive mind required meeting all your goals you have set for yourself. I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goals and living a richer life.
Hi Tonya,
DeleteI really enjoyed reading your reflection today it inspired me a whole lot. I think these blogs are good for us to get encouragement from one another. I am like you I don't like to be around negative people all the time it seems to bring a person's spirit down. I think though sometimes negativity in a person comes around to us to help us identify how truly blessed we are. You know that old saying "the grass looks greener on the other side, until you actually walk over on it." I say that to say that when we hear other's negative thoughts it may be a way of asking how can they come out of that situation they're in.
As far as the spiritual side, just continue to believe and trust and have that personal relationship with God. It's not about what church a person belongs to, because nobody on earth is perfect. He is not looking for perfection, just believers who trust!
I love it when you said you share ideas with your son who's nine, that is great! Take care.

Negative thoughts can definitely bring your spirits down and change your outlook on life. I remember when I was in the army some years ago, and the soldiers i befriended always had negative things to say about being a soldier. Before them I love being a soldier and they changed how I felt. I ended up leaving the military and have always regretted it. Thanks for your comments!
